Range and Ranch Management

CWS provides range management assistance for grasslands, shrublands, and forest settings. We can develop plans designed to increase the productivity of these lands for livestock and wildlife, increase or restore the native ecosystem diversity, or incorporate practices such as prescribed fire and invasive weed control. These plans can be designed to integrate range management with other landowner objectives.

In addition, CWS can develop and assist in the implementation of ranch management plans. These can include assessment and evaluation of pasture conditions, adjusting grazing regimes to produce desired yet sustainable conditions, as well as desired levels of productivity, designing fencing plans that manage livestock while considering the movement needs of wildlife, designing water developments, and managing for healthy riparian areas. CWS can develop and implement a total weed management plan that prioritizes weed control efforts, considers all management options, applies the most effective treatments, and applies revegetation with native species where needed. CWS can also assist in obtaining funding to offset the costs of range improvement practices based on our knowledge of a variety of potential funding sources including, NRCS, USFWS, and others.
